Rise in fresh milk rates opposed

Published June 5, 2013 Updated June 5, 2013 08:02am

imageKARACHI: Pakistan National Consumer Movement (PNCM) has strongly opposed the rise in rates of fresh milk in Karachi, demanding controlling unbridled price hike.

PNCM president Syed Sallahuddin in a statement said the growing price hike has already created a lot of problems for poor and low income families.

He said the ruling parties are not taking steps to safeguard the rights of consumers.

He said everywhere in world governments take measures to provide relief to masses, but here in Pakistan the situation is totally different.

He said recent rise in fresh milk prices would hit hard low income families, especially children who need milk as a part of their diet.

He demanded of the government to take notice of the issue and compel profiteering milk sellers to withdraw the recent hike in fresh milk rates.
