MASTUNG: On the call of Zamindar Action Committee Balochistan, hundreds of farmers blocked Quetta-Karachi highway on Khad Kocha area, on Tuesday in protest against the unannounced and prolonged power load shedding.
The protesting peasants held sit-in on the highway holding placards and banners inscribed with their demand for end to power outages.
They said that daily 20 hours power load shedding continued in Balochistan that has badly damaged the agriculture sector." Our fruit gardens and standing crops have dried up as we could not irrigate them with tube-wells water because of unannounced and 20-hours daily load shedding," they said.
The road blockade has caused traffic jam on Quetta-Karachi highway and long queues of vehicles were witnessed on the road.
