KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that peace in the city and in the province is priority of the government.
"We are constantly in touch with all coalition parties and even opposition leaders to work for peace in the metropolis," he said here Saturday while talking to newsmen at the office of the provincial Election Commissioner who announced the election of Dr. Asim Hussain as Senator unopposed.
Responding to queries of media persons, Shah said that Dr. Asim Hussain deserved the seat due to his outstanding social activities and hoped that he will work for the welfare of the people as Senator.
To a question about the problem of power outages in the metropolis, Sindh Chief Minister said that it was definitely a serious problem and government was working on various projects to provide relief to the masses.
He said there was huge gap in supply and production of electricity and the same was the case with gas despite the fact that Sindh province presently was producing 70 percent of gas.
"We appeal to the people to cooperate with the government in this regard," he added.
Elected Senator Dr. Asim Hussain, Senior Minister Pir Mazharul Haq and other members of the provincial cabinet were also present on the occasion.
