FPCCI business delegation to visit Tajikistan

Published Updated

ISLAMABAD: President Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Senator Haji Ghulam Ali will lead a delegation of one hundred prominent businessmen and investors to Tajikistan.

The visit is aimed at exploring business opportunities in Tajikistan, to inform businessmen of the republic about openings in Pakistan and enhance people- to-people contact and cement ties, says a statement issued by the FPCCI here today.

Senator Haji Ghulam Ali stated this after his meeting with Ambassador Republic of Tajikistan to Pakistan, Dr. Zubaydullo N. Zubaydov held here at FPCCI Capital Office on Friday.

Senator Haji Adeel, VP FPCCI Akbar Khan, Chairman Coordination Raza Khan and Chairman Media Malik Sohail Hussain were also present in the meeting.

The President FPCCI said that importance of trade and commerce has increased and "no nation can ignore it".

He said that he would also visit Kazakhstan with an official delegation in the beginning of May next, the Senator informed.

On the occasion, the Ambassador of Tajikistan said that his country has 2000 MW of surplus power to help "our brotherly country Pakistan overcome its energy shortfall".

He further said that all Pakistani businessmen are getting visa in two day due to simplified procedure.

Zubaydov said that "we are looking forward to get benefit from know-how of Pakistani experts to boost our economy".

"We are exporting aluminium, coal and dry fruits to Pakistan and importing a lot but some lobbies are conspiring by giving impression that both countries have no trade," he observed.

On the occasion Malik Sohail expressed the hope that Afghanistan Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA) will help increase bilateral trade between the two countries.

He said that we are ready to facilitate Tajik businessmen and government will provide easy access to its ports which will benefit Tajikistan.

Lead business leaders Tariq Sayeed and Iftikhar Malik are playing their role to bring people and business community of the two countries together, said Sohail.

"They realise considerable potential for expansion of trade and want relations strengthening with every passing day," he added.
