KARACHI: The Supreme Court (SC) has said that the counsel of the federation, Kamal Azfar, shall stay away from the hearing of the National Reconciliation Order (NRO) review case, which is underway in the Federal Capital Aaj TV reported on Thursday.
In a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Kamal Azfar has claimed that Advocate Abu Bakar Zardari threatened him from appearing in court for the hearing of the NRO case.
According to the letter, Advocate Abu Bakar Zardari also threatened Kamal Azfar’s wife.
However, Advocate Zardari has rejected the allegation.
Taking notice of the letter the apex court asked IG police to provide security to Kamal Azfar.
On April 11, the Supreme Court rejected the government’s request to change its senior counsel, Kamal Azfar, in the NRO review petition and adjourned the hearing till April 12.
The Supreme Court ordered former Attorney General Malik Abdul Qayyum, former NAB Chairman Naveed Ahsan and Danishwar Malik to appear before court.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heading the 17-member bench, said that the Supreme Court had been provided incomplete records of the NRO review case.
