Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port Qasim where five ships carrying containers, chemicals, furnace oil and diesel oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Terminal respectively on Wednesday, April 13.

Meanwhile four more ships scheduled to load/offload containers and edible oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy remained at the Port at 75% on Wednesday where a total of ten ships namely Izumo, CGM Verdi, MSC Magali, Orient III, Wales II, War Now Sun, Al Azizoo, Patriotic, Genmar Compatriot and Asia Star are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, furnace oil, chemical, diesel oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at Port Qasim where a cargo volume of 78,301 tonnes, comprising 48,883 tonnes imports and 29,418 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3009 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Two ships Izumo and CGM Verdi carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships Asia Star and Patriotic carrying Liquid Cargo and chemicals respectively were expected to sail on same day afternoon.

Four ships MSC Sena, Santa Paola, New Delhi Express and Global Challenge, scheduled to load/offload containers and edible oil respectively were expected to take berth at Container Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday, April 14th.
