Medvedev says will reveal soon if he'll run for re-election

MOSCOW: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said he will reveal soon if he will stand for re-election in 2012, refusing to rule out a second term in office, in an interview released by the Kremlin Tuesday.

"I do not rule out that I will run for a new term, the post of the president. The decision will be taken and rather soon at that," he said in an interview with Chinese state television.

Russia is heading for presidential elections in 2012 and both the 45-year-old Medvedev and his 58 year old mentor, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin have not ruled out standing.

After months of frenzied speculation, Medvedev's latest comments are the clearest indication yet that he is seriously considering running for a second term.
