Graft cases against President Zardari cannot be reopened: Swiss authorities to Pakistan

Farooq.H.-NaekISLAMABAD: The Swiss authorities on Saturday have said that they cannot reopen graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.

Federal Minister of Law, Farooq H Naek has confirmed receipt of the letter from the Swiss authorities.

Sources said that the Federal Law Minister would himself apprise the President about the contents of the letter.

It is pertinent to mention here that the much awaited letter - that led to ouster of former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani from his office - was written to the Swiss authorities in November 2012, following the Supreme Court orders in NRO implementation case.

The apex court had given the government a one-month deadline to write the letter to the Swiss authorities to withdraw a previous letter to the Swiss government by former attorney general Malik Qayyum, seeking closure of alleged graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.
