LONDON: The Australian dollar rose to its highest in 29 years against the US dollar on Friday, buoyed by investor appetite for higher-yielding assets at the broad expense of the greenback.
The Aussie rose to 1.0539 to trade with gains of around 0.6 percent on the day. The US dollar was broadly weaker, trading at its lowest levels since December 2009 versus a currency basket.
