ISLAMABAD: Former foreign secretary Najmuddin Sheikh said that Pakistan should exploit its water resources for power generation with the help and experience of China as it has vast experience in hydro power generation.
Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said both the countries are enjoying very good bilateral relations in various areas like defence so they can increase their level of bilateral trade as well.
He said Pakistan should focus on free trade zones for Chinese companies to encourage them to bring their expertise and technologies, which will help generate employment and promote people to people contacts.
He said although the governments of Pakistan and China have strong relations, yet the governments should take concrete steps for closer relations and contacts among people of the two countries.
He said the government of Pakistan should offer more Chinese language courses in its National University of Modern Languages Islamabad.
Replying to a question, he said both the countries to exchange their cultural programmes especially CCTV programmes for more closeness and awareness among masses about each other's countries.
Chinese students should be encouraged to tour Pakistan's different areas for research purposes on ancient cultures especially Buddhism, he said.
