LAHORE: Calling it collective responsibility to control the spread of Covid-19, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed the strict enforcement of wearing masks in the province.

The chief minister stated this while presiding over a high level meeting held to review the measures taken by the government to deal with latest development of Covid-19 pandemic. Provincial Minister for Health Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Chief Secretary, Secretary SH&ME, medical expert Dr Mehmood Shaukat, Dr Javed Hayat Khan from PKLI and concerned authorities were present in the meeting.

The CM said condition of wearing masks should strictly be implemented at public places, markets, and parks. He said action will be taken against violators. Protecting the citizens' lives is the top priority of the government and no stone will be left unturned for the treatment of corona affected patients. Beds, ventilators and necessary medicines are available in the public hospitals of Punjab, he said.

Buzdar said opening businesses is subject to implementation of SOPs. Action will be taken against business houses which violate the SOPs. He said services of doctors, nurses and other paramedics are commendable who are engaged in treatment of corona affected patients. Government salutes doctors, nurses and paramedical staff for their services in this time of trial.

Moreover, the CM inaugurated e-system for the payment of traffic fines as well as Time Scheduling System for the driving licence. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the chief minister said online payment of traffic fines will create ease to the people. He said due to closure of driving licence center during the recent corona outbreak, people are facing difficulties. He said online Time Schedule System will help citizens to get time and date from 18 driving centres of Lahore for attaining driving licence. He congratulated Lahore traffic police and Punjab Information Technology Board for starting e-system for the payment of traffic fines as well as Time Scheduling System.

The CM announced to extend the scope of e-system for payment of traffic fines and Time Scheduling System in the other cities of the province. He said traffic fines can easily be deposited through 1-Link ATM machines, mobile application, online banking as well as from any counter of branch of any bank. These measures will ensure the implementation of social distancing.

He further maintained that these steps will not only help to increase the revenue of Punjab government but will also bring transparency in revenue collection. He said these initiatives of Punjab government will also help to compile the records of those who used to violate traffic rule repeatedly. He said citizens can get this facility through Rasta Aap, web portal and call centres. He said citizens who are not familiar with information technology, can go to nearest driving center and get time and date. He said such initiatives of government will not only help citizens to get rid of long queue and wait but will also improve service delivery. He said Punjab has entered into digital era and government will continue to use information technology in further as well for improving the service delivery as well as creating ease to the people.
