Instagram faces celebrity backlash amid picture policy changes

KARACHI: Hollywood celebrities are considering closing their Instagram accounts after it launched new rules on the sharing photos.

Popular Hollywood reality T.V stars Kim and Khole Kardiashian, Lauren Conrad, and Anchor Anderson Cooper, are just a few among many disappointed users of Instagram.

The new user agreement gives broader rights to use members’ photos in advertisements. The mandate also suggests that no compensation would be provided over the use of any member photo on Instagram, a policy which irking celebrities and users alike.

Instagram was acquired by Facebook for seven hundred and forty million dollars and already uses photos and other information of users to show advertisements to friends.

Kim Kardashian posted on Twitter saying, “I really loved Instagram :-( I need to review this new policy. I don't think its fair.”

Kim Kardashian’s sister Khole stated, “I hope @instagram changes its policy "@EllaBelieber_ @KhloeKardashian I'm gonna be deleting too, #notfair #stupididea. Xox"

Anderson Cooper tweeted, “I may rethink using Instagram”.

Former Grey’s Anatomy and currently Private Practice star Kate Walsh also tweeted against Instagram stating, “No more Instagram.” Others celebrity backers include singer Jordan Sparks and actress Rosario Dawson.

The new policy will take effect sometime in mid-January and suggests Facebook wants to integrate Instagram with its ad-serving system.
