Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Preventive has seized huge quantity of Chinese salt (Ajinomoto) worth Rs 2.32 million from a warehouse in Karachi.
The Chinese salt was banned by the Supreme Court due to have objectionable substance.
According to an FIR, the department has received credible information that considerable quantity of Ajinomoto was stored at a warehouse located near Truck Stand, Lyari.
Reacting on this information, a team has reached the place and conducted the search that led the recovery of 300 PP bags of Ajinomoto.
As no one came forward to claim the ownership of the recovered impugned cutch, therefore all the gunny bags were taken into possession and shifted to state warehouse, Keamari, Karachi. Thorough examination of recovered 300 PP bags of Ajinomoto was carried out which ascertained total weight of Ajinomoto to 4500kgs worth Rs 2.32 million. Consequent upon recovery, a case has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
