The three-day "Suppliers and Vendors Defence Exhibition (SAVDEX 2020)" organized by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO) concluded here on Saturday.

High officials of Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO), Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) Brig. Syed Ali Ammar Haider, Col. Shahid Rasool, Commodore Tariq Mahmood, LCCI office bearers including President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, Senior Vice President Ali Hussam Asghar and Vice President Mian Zahid Jawaid Ahmad were present on the occasion.

The organizer claimed that over 15,000 people visited the exhibition on final day that has also provided a platform to the Pakistani entrepreneurs to establish new trade & economic relations with their foreign counterparts who showed their keen interest in Pakistani products.

The LCCI President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said that this exhibition was mainly organized to establish meaningful partnerships between private sector and government departments in Defence sector.

All over the world, fairs and exhibitions are considered to be the most effective tool of marketing and reaching out to potential customers, he said.

Germany and France are making best use of this tool, he said adding that fairs and exhibitions not only help attract foreign buyers and bring in much needed foreign exchange but also highlight the soft image of Pakistan. He said that taking part in exhibitions is not just an opportunity to improve the competitiveness of products, it can also make the manufacturer more competitive by optimizing business processes, expanding service range, increasing brand awareness and customer loyalty, he added. LCCI is fully determined to play its due role by way of making SAVDEX a milestone in the pursuit of increasing the defence production of Pakistan, he said.

It is a matter of great encouragement for us that private sector has been trusted to get engaged with certain public sector organizations which are related to defence sector.

It is an urgent need of the hour that Pakistan must increase the share of defence exports in order to fill the gap created by unfavourable balance of trade, he said and hoped that SAVDEX would begin a new era of public private partnership in Pakistan.
