Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central, Arif Aslam Rao has said that it is top priority of police to make industrial areas crime-free and for this purpose installation of hidden cameras is extremely important.

Speaking at a meeting of North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI), he said that the industrial community has a vital role to play in the country's economic development. He assured the CMC to provide services to 50 police personnel and said that CMC would soon be given a police mobile.

He appreciated the performance of North Karachi Industrial Area Police Station for controlling street crime.

He said that an integrated strategy would be devised to control the street crime so that the industrial area could be completely cleared of crime.

He agreed that Police Department and NKATI to work jointly to protect the lives of industrialists in the industrial area and to ensure a conducive business environment.

CCTV cameras would be installed in the industrial area, so that criminal elements are closely monitored and internal and external routes are monitored.

Patron in Chief NKATI, Capt A Moiz Khan said that development work in the North Karachi industrial area is booming, but there is a huge encroachment on roads.

We knocked on the door of every forum, including Chief Minister Sindh and Commissioner Karachi to end the encroachment, and tried to convince that to end encroachment is crucial for the export industry to deliver its results, so that the supply of raw material to industries and export goods ensure timely delivery to ports.

Chief of crime monitoring cell NKATI, Akhtar Ismail said crime monitoring cell is being updated, while 80 to 90 cameras will be installed in the area.

This will keep the entire North Karachi industrial area in view and the law and order situation will be even better. Because of the sheer rise in unemployment, street crime is also on the rise.

He said that the 50 policemen, who were formerly deputed at the CMC should be reassigned to the Crime Monitoring Cell.

Senior Vice President NKATI, Imran Moiz Khan pointed out that industrialists, who withdraw money from the bank are robbed on the way, and now laborers, who work in the factory withdrawal from the bank are also not safe, hence the need to pay close attention to this serious situation.

CEO, North Karachi Industrial Development and Management Company (NKIDMC), Sadiq Mohammad said that about 95% of the development work in the North Karachi Industrial Area has been completed. He emphasized that an integrated security plan should be formulated with the help of NKATI, the CMC and the law enforcement agencies to make it a model industrial area.
