In order to make a complete edge-to-edge display without any notches for front camera, Samsung has introduced a new phone with a sliding camera that rotates for both back and front pictures, a first one in smartphone industry.

The South Korea tech giant used a unique tactic for its all new Galaxy A80, which it unveiled yesterday, in order to maximize the screen size without compromising the camera; by featuring a sliding rear-facing camera that can rotate to double as a selfie camera.

The Galaxy A80, Business Insider reported, features three cameras – a 48MP main camera, a 3D depth sensing camera, and an 8MP ultra wide angle camera – that pops up from the phone’s back when slid up and rotates when the camera app is in selfie mode.

Besides its novel camera, the phone features a 6.7-inch screen, similar to that of Galaxy S10 5G, but larger than those found on the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+. The phone comes in with 3,700mAh battery with fast charging, on-screen fingerprint sensor, 8GB RAM/128GB storage, and Samsung’s Bixby digital assistant.

The Galaxy A80 will be available in three colors: black, gold and white, and as per The Verge, it is scheduled to launch on May 29, however, the pricing is yet to be announced.
