ISLAMABAD: Water level in Tarbela Dam, which has been falling lately is just six feet above its dead-level.
Experts say it would take no more than two days before the water hits the dead-level line.
According to a private news channel quoting Indus River System Authority (IRSA) that the dead-level in the dam was market at 1378 feet and the water level was at 1383.9 feet.
On average, the water level has been decreasing by 3 feet per day owing to daily water discharge.
On Monday, the inflow was recorded at 22,100 cusecs discharge at 45,000 cusecs.
On the other hand the dam was producing around 420 megawatts of electricity.
Talking to a private news channel, Chairman Indus River System Authority (IRSA) Syed Mazhar Ali Shah had said that water inflow in Tarbela Dam witnessed considerable increase owing to widening of Attabad Lake spillway.
He said that the dam received 40,000 and 30,000 cusecs water respectively in recently.
However, he said that the increased water flow would continue just for a few days and then the flow into the dam would come as usual.
The Chairman said that meeting of IRSA advisory committee would be convened by March to review water situation for Kharif Crop.
Meanwhile IRSA released 107,000 cusecs water from various rim stations with inflow of 62,000 cusecs.
According to the data released by IRSA, the maximum water level in River Indus at Tarbela was 1394.40 feet, which was 16.40 feet higher than its dead level of 1378 feet.
Water inflow in the dam was recorded as 33,500 cusecs while out flow was recorded as 50,000 cusecs.
The water level in River Jhelum at Mangla was 1084.90 feet, which was 44.90 feet higher than its dead level of 1040 feet whereas the inflow and outflow of water was recorded as 6,800 cusecs and 35,000 cusecs respectively.
The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa and Sukkur was recorded as 61,600, 46,100 and 33,200 cusecs respectively.
Similarly, from River Kabul a total of 9,500 cusecs of water was released at Nowshera and 12,116 cusecs released from River Chenab at Marala.
