Two policemen were martyred and three injured in a gunfight with dacoits in Shah Belo area, here on Sunday. According to police, Station House Officer Ghulam Murtaza Mirani of Ghulam Shah police station and Assistant Sub Inspector Zulfikar Panhwar were martyred.
In the same encounter, three police officials were wounded. A huge contingent of police was summoned and the area was cordoned off due to the gun-battle. Police said that armoured vehicles and 200 police officials were taking part in the police operation. The hideouts of dacoits were razed to the ground, police said, adding that the houses in the area are being searched as well.
