Tribal leaders of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) have expressed serious concerns over delay in conduct of elections in erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas and demanded that the elections should be held in next three months instead of after one-year period in the tribal regions.
Speaking at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, PPP tribal leader and candidate for NA-46 Sajid Turi said that the Fata reforms bill is a welcoming step, which was unanimously endorsed by the both houses of parliaments that has paved way for merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
But, he said the holding of elections in Federally Administration Tribal Areas after the one-year behind the general elections 2018 in the country, which is scheduled to be held on July 25 was tantamount to keeping tribal people deprived of their fundamental rights and representation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial assembly.
Flanked the party Fata general secretary, Malik Jangriz Khan Mohmand, Malik Afzal Hussain, Syed Jalal Hussain, Malik Ghulam Wazir, candidate for NA-42, and Malik Israel, candidate for NA-42, Turi said that the PPP would take practical steps for uplift and welfare of the tribal people after coming in the power. He added the PPP will ensure protection of tribesmen right at any cost.
