The Karachi Port handled 186,484 tonnes of cargo comprising 142,105 tonnes of import cargo and 44,379 tonnes of export cargo including 9,835 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 142,105 tonnes comprised of 79,259 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20,658 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,790 tonnes of soyabean meal; 9,178 tonnes of fertilizer and 28,220 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 44,379 tonnes comprised of 37,618 tonnes of containerised cargo; 132 tonnes of bulk cargo and 6,629 tonnes of wheat.
As many as 9,835 containers comprising of 5,826 containers import and 4,009 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,647 of 20's and 1,945 of 40's loaded while 29 of 20's and 130 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,027 of 20's and 614 of 40's loaded containers while 492 of 20's and 631 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely MT Karachi, Star Eos and Da Chang carrying oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. MS Tiger, CMA CGM Tosca, Navious Verano, Kamome Victoria, Wealthy Bay, Makhambet and Asavari carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 187,046 tonnes comprising 172,528 tonnes of import cargo and 14,518 tonnes of export cargo including 4,936 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 172,528 tonnes includes 435 tonnes of LNG; 32,432 tonnes of furnace oil; 6,120 tonnes of palm oil; 34,000 tonnes of coal; 18,810 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 80,731 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 14,518 tonnes includes 1,465 tonnes of clinker and 13,053 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,936 containers comprising of 4,249 containers import and 687 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were four ships namely CV Northern Promotion, CV NYK Priority, MV Milaha Qatar and MT Al-Qadisia carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely CV MSC Bilbao carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Northern Promotion, CV NYK Priority, CV MSC Bilbao, MV African Puffin, MV High Gate, MV White Hawk, MT Maria-III, MT Milaha Qatar, MT Al-Qadisia and MT Bum Shin were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, clinker, soyabean seeds, coal, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen ships namely MV MG Hammant, MV Thassos, MV Avacon, MV Durban, MV Celcius Miami, MV Bulk Chile, MV GH Northern Dancer, MV Chayanee Naree, MT Omera Queen, MT Iblea, MT FPMCP Eagle, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Glorious and MT Souther Jaguar carrying soyabean, bitumen, coal, chemical, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were eight vessels viz. CV MOL Courage, CV APL Charleston, CV Maersk Hartford, MV Durban, MV Bulk Chili, MV Stila Konsan, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Omera Queen carrying containers, butimen, coal, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There were three ships namely CV MOL Courage, CV APL Charleston and CV Maersk Hartford carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
