Peshawar retained overall trophy of the 3rd Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-Region Under-23 Games-2018 for the third consecutive time after the conclusion of the three-day games here on Tuesday. Peshawar claimed gold medals in 10 different games out of the total 17 female games and remained runners-up in two by taking the overall trophy of the female, followed by Mardan with three gold medal and 10 silver medals and Hazara got third position with three gold medals and one silver medal. Swat got one gold medal, and one silver medal while Kohat and Dera got runners-up trophies and silver medal in one each.
In the male event Peshawar won gold medal in 21 games out of 26, Karate, Wrestling, Weightlifting, Badminton, Tennis, Squash, Boxing, Mui Thai Ful Contact, Wushu, Swimming, Cycling, Basketball, Handball, hockey, Tug of War, Archery, Judo, Athletics, Handball, Snooker and Gymnastic, Football and Table Tennis Swat, Kabaddi Mardan, Teakwondo Kohat, runner Dera Ismail Khan, Volleyball won by Bannu and Swat got runners up trophy.
Mardan won second positive overall with three gold medal in Female Games and two gold medal in male Games, Swat with two gold medal in female Games and one in Male Games remained third, followed by Hazara with three gold medals overall.
In the Tug of War Hazara shocked Peshawar, the last time winner, by 2-1. Both were tied 1-1 before Hazara took the final. In the Squash event Peshawar recorded victory against strong Mardan team by 3-1 in the final, in Netball Swat defeated Mardan by 12-9.
In the Judo event Mardan won first position by grabbing three gold medals in -52kg weight, -70kg weight, open category and a bronze medal in -40kg, Kohat took runners-up trophy with two gold medals -48kg and -63kg and silver medal in -44kg, Bannu got third position with gold medal in -40kg and -59kg, in the Taekwondo Hazara with gold medal in Poomsae, Bentum, Featuher, three silver in Fin, Wekther and Middle Weight and bronze medals in fly weight by securing 89 points, Dera Ismail Khan took two gold medals in Fin, Fly and bronze medals in Poomsae, Feather, Welter and Middle Weight by securing 61 points and Peshawar remained at third with 42 points by winning two gold medal in Light, Welther and bronze medals in Poomzai, Bentum weight.
In the Wushu female Peshawar got first position by winning five gold medals, three silver medals and two bronze medals, Mardan remained at second with three gold medals, one silver medal and four bronze medals Hazara remained at third with two silver medals and five bronze medals.
In the Female Athletic Peshawar claimed winner trophy with 40 points after winning two gold medals, six silver medals and a gold medal in relay race with one bronze medal. Mardan got 38 points with five gold medal and one silver medal and three bronze medals. If the overall position will be medals as it is Mardan will be the winner with five gold medals and Peshawar got two gold medals but the position was decided on points and thus surprisingly Peshawar was declared as winner.
In the long jump Kainat Gul of Mardan won gold medal, followed by Aysha Abbas and Hira, in the discus throw Parkha of Peshawar won gold medal, followed by Aiman and Sumaya, in 400m Kainat Gul won her second gold medal, followed by Zargohna and Kainat Akhtar, in 4X100m relay Peshawar got first position, Mardan got second and Hazara got third position, in the shot put Aiman got gold, followed by Saimya and Shahida, in the 100m Kainat Gul got her third goal medal, followed by Hira got second position while Kainat Akhtar got bronze medal, in the Javelin throw Saimya of Mardan won gold medal, Parkha Iqbal, Nargis got silver medal and bronze medals. In the 200m Kainat Gul won her fourth gold medal, Hira and Aysha got silver medal and bronze medals respectively.
In the Male Boxing Peshawar won six gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze, Swat won 3 gold, two silver and two bronze, Hazara won one gold, three silver medals while Mardan won one silver medal.
In the dramatically ended female cricket final played at BISE ground, Peshawar raced up to victory by four wickets with just one ball to spare. Peshawar needed 12 runs in the last over and lost two quick wickets but Kiran struck 32 run with three sixes and four boundaries and guided her team to victory. Mardan setup 69 runs target for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs with Peshawar chased the target for the loss of six wickets.
In the male swimming Peshawar won 7 gold medals, six silver medal and two bronze by securing 104 points, followed by Mardan with two gold, three silver, three bronze medals by securing 63 points, Hazara with one bronze.
In the Cycling Peshawar won three gold, one silver and one bronze medals with 106 points, followed by Mardan with one silver and one bronze by securing 46 points and Swat with one silver got third position by securing 45 points.
