General Secretary ANP, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Hussain Babak has expressed concern over the resignations of the senior officers of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project over irregularities and demanded of the anti-graft agencies to summon all these officers to initiate inquiry into mega corruption scandal. In a statement issued here on Saturday, the ANP activist said that due to consecutive changes in the design of the project, the cost of the project had increased from Rs 27 billion to Rs 75 billion, which is best example of mismanagement and poor planning of the provincial government.
He said that due to persistent changes not only the completion rather the design of the project is also still incomplete. Sardar Hussain Babak, who is also the parliamentary leader of ANP in KP Assembly said that CM is in hurry to inaugurate the project and for this purpose is fixing time again and again. He alleged that the provincial government had written a new history of corruption by paying a hefty amount of Rs 1 billion to their blue-eyed consultant though he had made poor planning and designing of the project.
He said that the officials who have been either removed or tendered resignations are professionally capable and they had given sacrifice for saving billions of rupees of the province on the project. Babak further said that the monopoly of one individual, who used to set aside the powers of the Board of Directors in the approval of the matters had made the completion of the project impossible even during next year.
He said that the completion of the project is not in sight while the business of the trading community had been destroyed. The chief minister, he alleged is in hurry to purchase buses for project while the officials were of the opinion that the buying of buses without design test is impossible and illegal. But, the chief minister was bent upon the importing of the vehicles through road without any test or analysis, which will cost Rs 6 million per bus to the province.
