The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has unveiled its integrated command, control and communication center's (PPIC) performance report for the month of March 2018. According to the report, the PPIC's center provided electronic evidence data pertaining to more than 130 cases to the police for investigations. The PSCA's Public Safety App also helped the police in recovering five persons, three vehicles and 55 motor bikes through its infamous Lost and Found Section.
The Authority's Operations Monitoring Center (OMC) secured more than 14,000 observations that warranted 6,100 cases including interception of more than 300 suspicious persons by the Police Response Unit (PRU) and Dolphin Squad and a thorough probing of 2,544 suspicious vehicles.
"Through the geo-strategic grid of cameras, the OMC managed to apprehend 412 vehicles without number plates through relevant police stations. More than 32 rallies and protests were monitored and security measures were taken," the report maintained.
For intelligent traffic management services, over 285 traffic-blockages were reported to the City Traffic Police (CTP) whereas over 200 accidents were also reported to the Rescue-1122 for immediate rescue measures.
It also contended that almost 395 cases were dealt with illegal or unauthorized parking. The specifically designed ANPR-enabled traffic cameras observed 3,382,000 violations of traffic rules and to redress the same, the police from all divisions of the city was engaged accordingly.
The PSCA also received more than 300,000 calls on the Emergency Helpline (15), out of which, 225,000 were determined as hoaxed and on approximately 30,000 calls, with genuine concerns. Out of the total, 1,225 cases were related to the rescue while around 2,000 cases were referred to the CTP for immediate action, the report concluded.
