Lieutenant Cdr Ihsan Ghani (retd), National Coordinator of National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta), on Friday said that Pakistan is formulating Afghan policy to decide about the future of Afghan refugees. During a press conference Ihsan Ghani said that Nacta along with all concerned stakeholders is formulating a policy with respect to Afghan refugees.
He also informed that data forms have been distributed in all provinces to register religious seminaries. He said the Nacta has worked hard enough to stop funding to the terrorists and terrorist organizations which has helped in the eradication of terrorism a lot. The Nacta, however, works on policy making and doesn't handle operational side.
He also categorically denied the existence of Daesh in Pakistan; however, he confirmed that Daesh is present in Afghanistan.
He informed that an international forum has also been formed to counter terrorism and every year the forum will organize international counter terrorism conference. Three-day International Counter Terrorism Conference has been organized this year which will start on upcoming April 3.
He said Pakistan was a victim of terrorism but now it has become a victor as the country has overcome terrorism in past 4 years after the launch of military operation Zarb-e-Azb. And now the military operation Raad-ul-Fasad is underway to also deal with the abettors, successors, supporters and facilitators of terrorists.
He said that Pakistan's armed forces, law enforcement agencies and the people have made huge sacrifices in war on terror, adding that Pakistan has eventually won this war.
He said the purpose of the conference is to include people from different parts of the world to participate and work collaboratively to fight the war of terror.
The conference will invite former ambassadors, civil and military experts and analysts, political figures, scholars, researchers and journalists, he said.
He said the conference will end with the key note addresses of Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, MNA Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Senator Sherry Rehman. While talking about this year's conference pattern, he said Director General Military Operations (DGMO) will brief about the fight against terrorists and the President AJK will brief on the consequences of 9/11 incident. Moreover, the conference will also include the topic of Pak-Afghan relations and the consequences of the Afghanistan war for Pakistan.
He said terrorism started increasing from the year 2004, while about 2,000 incidents of terrorism took place in the year 2010 which declined to a great extent in 2017.
