The Supreme Court on Friday directed district police officer (DPO) Gujranwala to recover the daughters of a Lithuanian national and produce them before this court on Monday. A two-member judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, heard the appeal of a Lithuanian national, Maimouna Liskaukaite, against the Lahore High Court order. The LHC on February 23, 2018 had dismissed her petition. The apex court also directed Ministry of Interior to make sure that the minors are not removed from the jurisdiction of this court (SC).
Maimouna, after embracing Islam, had tied knot with Jamshaid Siddique on 17-01-2004 in Lithuania and lived together in Lithuania for seven years and had three daughters - Maryam Siddique, 13, Ayesha Siddiqui, 12, and Amna Siddique, 9.
After that the family moved to Jumeriah, Dubai, as Jamshaid convinced his wife Mainmouna that they were shifting to Dubai for better future. After relocation in the UAE, Jamshaid on 04-04-2011 took his daughters on the pretext to visit a nearby park "Al-Safa Park Dubai" but remained untraceable in spite of her best efforts to locate them for seven long years.
Later on Mainmouna found out that her husband is living with her daughters in Pakistan. Jamshaid on 07-04-2011 divorced his wife.
