Hundreds of lady health workers (LHW) on Monday staged a sit-in outside the Punjab Assembly for payment of their pending salaries. Due to the protest, traffic was disrupted on all roads leading to the Mall Road causing much inconvenience to the people.
The protesting LHWs complained that neither their demands had been met nor they had been paid for the past five months. "We haven't been paid for five months now," said one of the protesters.
Another protestor said they last received an increment in 2012. The lady health workers from different districts across Punjab also demanded for a service structure. "Our demonstration will continue till our demands are met," annother health worker pledged. The protest was going on till filing of this report.
