The Islamic Revolution of Iran, on the basis of the three axes -- Islam, leadership and public--and with the objective of establishing the Islamic democratic system for elevating the status of humans and bringing a system which is based on sovereignty, freedom, development and public welfare, became victorious in 1979. From its very first day, because of its slogans against tyranny and oppression, the Islamic revolution became the target of propagatory, political, economic and military attacks particularly the Iraqi imposed war against Iran, and sanctions. But with the grace of Allah and by relying upon the pure Mohammadan Islam and the great and popular leaders of the country, the Iranians came out victorious from these threats with their heads high.
Over the past four decades, with the efforts of its youth, men and women, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made an extraordinary progress in the fields of science, education, industry, agriculture, telecommunication, nanotechnology and sports, besides the social, economic and defense fields, and this progress is still continuing.
The constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran is the supporter and guarantor of the rights of all citizens of the country and Iran has one of the most advanced democratic systems in the region and the world. Over the past four decades, Iran held almost forty different elections - parliamentary, presidential, city and village and Assembly of Experts -- and all Iranian religious minorities also have their representatives in the parliament. Freedom, especially the freedom of expression, is one of the main principles of the Islamic revolution and the public and the newspapers in Iran, within the framework of the law, express their views on all the national issues freely.
FOREIGN POLICY
The foreign policy of Iran is based on Islamic principles, brotherhood and development of relations with Islamic countries, neighbors, regional countries and the world community at large. Iran's foreign policy principles also include peaceful coexistence, reciprocal respect, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, regional and global security and stability, nuclear disarmament, dismantling of weapons of mass destruction, ban on proliferation of atomic and non-conventional weapons, strengthening of economic cooperation through regional and international organizations, fight against terrorism and eradicating terrorist threats like Daesh in the region and participation with international community specially the United Nations. Iran, for its own security and that of the other regional countries, has rendered a lot of sacrifices in fighting against terrorist and notorious groups like Daesh.
Defending Palestine and the Baitul Moghaddas as the first Qibla of Muslims has a special place in the foreign policy of Iran, and it extends hands of friendship and solidarity towards all Islamic countries for achieving this goal.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, within the framework of international cooperation and with the objective of demonstrating its good intentions in peaceful use of atomic energy reached an agreement with 5+1 countries and the International Atomic Energy Agency also has confirmed more than ten times Iran's total compliance with the deal.
BILATERAL RELATIONS BETWEEN IRAN & PAKISTAN
Pakistan and relations with this country enjoys a special and eminent place in the eyes of Iranians, particularly the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Hazrat Ayatollah Khammenei, and the latter's support for Kashmiris is known to all.
Iran and Pakistan enjoy an old traditional relationship with having a common culture, history, language, religion and border. They are the first countries who recognized the sovereignty of each other. Over the seven decades of establishment of diplomatic relations, they have come to each other's succor through thick and thin. They also have close cooperation and coordination with each other at international level and global fora.
Iran and Pakistan enjoy incredible potentials in the fields of oil and gas, energy, industry, agriculture, science, higher education and transportation and they can develop these relations to the welfare of two nations and to that of the other regional nations through the huge projects such as Gwadar-Chabahar link, CPEC and IP gas pipeline.
Exchange of visits by high authorities of the two countries is continuing. Last year, the president of my country H.E. Dr Hasan Rouhani visited Pakistan and H.E. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Prime Minister of Pakistan, paid a reciprocal visit to Iran. The foreign ministers of the two countries also paid a reciprocal visit and held discussions on important issues. Discussion on security and military issues by the two countries is also continuing at the highest levels and General Bajwa, Chief of the Pakistan Army, was recently in Iran.
Last year, several exhibitions were organized in Pakistan and Iran with the participation of various companies of the two countries and hundreds of Iranian and Pakistani traders paid reciprocal visits to each other's country. Now, the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries, with a growth of more than 30 per cent as compared to the last year, has crossed the level of 1.2 billion dollars and the efforts for taking this volume to the level which was agreed upon by the leaders of the two countries are on through removal of difficulties and barriers.
Once again, on this auspicious occasion of the National Day, which is the day of revival of Iranians, I extend my hands of friendship to the respectable people and authorities of Pakistan and wish both the Iranian and Pakistani nations a huge success, prosperity and a durable peace.
Long live Iran
Long live Pakistan
