Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that complete and dignified return, rehabilitation and facilitation of TDPs was the top priority of the incumbent government and the concerned officials have been instructed to ensure provision of basic facilities to TDPs.
He expressed these views in a meeting with DG FATA Disaster Management Authority at Governor House, Peshawar on Thursday. Beside others, Principle Secretary to Governor Sikander Qayyum was also present on the occasion. DG FDMA Mohammad Khalid gave a detailed briefing on the ongoing reconstruction projects and rehabilitation of IDPs.
It was mentioned in the presentation that reconstruction and rehabilitation strategy was officially launched in April 2015, as a result of which 90pc of TDPs have returned to their native places in various phases in a dignified and respectable manner.
Each and every TDPs family while on return to their native places was provided with Rs 10,000 as transport grant and Rs 25000 in shape of return cash grant. The Governor was apprised that complete survey has been done with regards to 33000 houses in five tribal agencies. For the reconstruction and rehabilitation in Orakzai and Kurram Agency, approximately USD6 million have been spent, whereas in North Waziristan and Orakzai Agencies, approximately USD7 million will be spent. The Governor, while talking on this occasion said, no stone should be left unturned while facilitating tribal people.
