Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) set up a protest camp against the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday over its failure to address persistent water shortage in the federal capital. Camp was set up at sector G-9 Markaz which was attended by a number of PTI workers, while MNA Asad Umar will lead a protest rally from the G-9 Markaz to the CDA office today.
The campaigners demanded CDA to make effective arrangements to ensure smooth supply of water to residents of Islamabad. Speaking on the occasion, Asad Umer said that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has failed to resolve basic issues of public, especially water shortage in the city. He said that he raised this issue at different forums including standing committee, Ministry of Capital Administration and Development Division and CDA, but no one is ready to resolve the problem.
He said due to incompetence of the CDA, residents of the capital will face acute shortage of water in summer. "The main objective behind Wednesday's protest rally is to convey our voice to the power corridors," he clarified. He warned that a full-scale future strategy on protest will be announced if the government remains failed in taking concert measures in this regard.
