CM for completion of development schemes at earliest

qaim_aliKARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, has expressed his dissatisfaction on the performance of some government departments, tendency of slow output and non-interest in development process of province, with the result that the development works have affected.

This he observed while presiding over a high level joint meeting today of Irrigation Department, Works and Services Department Planning & Development Department and Finance Department, at CM House here on Monday.

He said that every department is full of officers and big number of staff and that their performance should be up to the mark and as per expectations of people.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that the departments instead of waiting for May or June should pull up their energies for implementing the development schemes in all sectors so as to provide basic facilities to deprived people of the province.

He stressed the need to accelerate the development work and full attention be given towards completion of all schemes well in time.

Qaim Ali Shah further said that all ongoing schemes be completed as per schedule.

Additional Chief Secretary (P&D) informed the meeting that as per total allocation of Rs: 111.000 billion, in all Rs: 45.30 billion were released to various departments while about Rs: 20.000 billion have been spent by various departments.

He said that there are total 1,737 schemes in the province, out of which the number of on-going schemes is 1,244 while the total new schemes of the province are 493.

It was informed that out of 493 schemes, 410 schemes have been approved for implementation.

With regard to schemes pertaining to Works and Services Department, there is allocation of Rs: 11,000.000 million which include Rs: 8413.702 million for ongoing and Rs: 2586.298 million for new schemes.

The meeting was informed that so far Rs: 6117.510 million have been release, out of which Rs: 3258.000 million have been spent which is 55.60%.

It was informed that about 2,500 Kilometers roads are damaged due to heavy rains and under first priority, 600 km roads are being reconstructed.

It was further informed that two new roads i.e. from Nawabshah to Sanghar and the other from Sanghar to Mirpurkhas are being constructed, while within few months, 1100- Kms rural roads will be completed soon.

Regarding Irrigation Department, it was informed that there are total 110 schemes which include 84-ongoing schemes and 26 new schemes are being executed at the total cost of Rs: 18957.000 million.

As per progress, it was informed that Finance Department as against allocation of Rs: 3800.00 million, has released Rs: 2166.00 million while Rs: 1309.00 million have been spent which is 61% of overall released amount.

Secretary Irrigation Sindh, informed that as soon as the administrative approval schemes is received, the progress will be upto mark.

Chief Minister Sindh further said that the Department should utilize the funds as per releases while it will not be allowed this time that the funds are utilized in June in a haphazard way.

He added that the departments should complete schemes by the end of June 2012 i.e. before coming monsoon season.

The meeting was attended among others by Minister Irrigation Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Sindh Agriculture Minister Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, Sindh Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, ACS(P&D) Israr Malik, Secretary Finance Sindh Naveed Kamran Baloch, Secretary to C.M. Sindh Alamuddin Bullo, Secretary Planning & Development Mohsin Mushtaque, Special Secretary to C.M. Dr. Atta Muhammad Panhwar, officers of P&D, Finance and Irrigation department , Chief Engineers etc.
