Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that investigation into the Sehwan incident is moving at a fair pace and the culprits involved would be sternly punished. While addressing the 16th convocation of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro he said that PPP has no links with terrorists, in fact it is a victim of terrorism and the Sindh government is working on joint security plans for shrines.
"Entire country is affected by terrorism; due to terrorism we lost our great leader Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. We all have to be united in war against terror. In this struggle against terrorism PPP has given utmost sacrifices. We are always on the front line fighting against terrorists. We are against terrorist, no matter to which organisation he belongs. Links of terrorism have been found on Sindh-Balochistan border and in this regard I have talked with the Chief Minister of Balochistan, who has agreed to form a joint platform to tackle terrorism," he added.
He said that IG Sindh A D Khawaja is in contact with IG Balochistan in order to sought out this problem together. Mr. Shah further said that doctors rather being appointed on administrative posts should concentrate more on treating patients. The profession of doctors is a great profession, they serve the ill and there is no greater service than that, he added.
Earlier, while addressing the students the CM said, "I am glad that you have received degrees and hope that you would serve the people. You are the future of this nation. Coming at LUMHS is an honour for me because my leader Shaheed Benazir Bhutto used to come here and distribute degrees. This university in shorter span of time has quickly developed, and the examples of it are Pharmacy College, DNA Lab, Physio Therapy Center, Bilawal Medical College and FM radio station."
He further added that the present atmosphere of the country compels us to look for the core cause of the social decline in the country. Among all causes, nothing is more important than literacy and education, especially at higher levels. Experts always stress upon the socio-economic growth of the country. But here we must clear our minds that it is not possible without a high literacy rate, honest dedicated, untiring efforts with good governance and the efficient products of our universities. He said that our youth and graduates have prime importance, and until and unless they will not put their talent and not prove their worth by skills for entering today's highly competitive market for jobs, we will be unable to overcome the prevailing socio economic conditions of the country.
He informed that the PPP government has always been striving to promote health and education on priority bases' whether it is opening of new medical colleges, hospitals, upgrading health delivery system or creating jobs for our youth. The Chief Minister concluded that the present government and he himself will extend all the possible support to this prestigious institution in completing all the under taken projects as well as future plans.
419 under graduates and 124 Post graduates were awarded degrees in the 16th Convocation of LUMHS, Jamshoro. 419 students of MBBS and BDS got degrees, while post graduates in departments of Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic, Psychiatry, Dentistry, Dermatology, Cardiology, Medicine, General Surgery and others got degrees.
