A state-of-the-art pathological lab will be established at Jinnah Hospital under public-private partnership (PPP) to provide best quality of diagnostic facilities to the people while other hospitals will also be attached to this lab. Secretary Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmad Shah revealed this while presiding over a meeting in connection with setting up of a Central Lab at Jinnah Hospital.
The consultants gave presentation on the establishment of pathological lab, availability of trained human resource, financial and technical aspects of the project. It was briefed that Jinnah Hospital would provide space to house the laboratory whereas the firm would make investment and install equipment /machinery for diagnostic lab. Fee of tests would be fixed with the firm under MoU and government will provide funds accordingly on annual basis. Najam Ahmad Shah said that collection centers would be set up at different places in the hospital to avoid long queues. He said that after completion of the project, more such laboratories would be established in Lahore to provide quality diagnostic facilities to more than 10 million populations.
