MOSCOW: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he will visit Damascus on Tuesday alongside the head of the Russian foreign intelligence service for talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

"On the order of the Russian president, myself and Mikhail Fradkov will visit Damascus on February 7 for a meeting with Bashar al-Assad," Russian news agencies quoted Lavrov as saying on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference Saturday.
