HR activists back home safely

Salman Haider, a human rights activist and professor at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) who went missing on January 6 from the federal capital, returned home Friday night. The police and family sources confirmed that Haider has returned home, saying his physical condition is good. Haider had gone missing from the outskirts of the federal capital. Following his disappearance, Lohi Bher police station registered an FIR on the complaint of his brother Zeeshan Haider.
According to the complainant, Salman Haider was in Bani Gala area along with his friends on the evening of January 6. When his did not return home by 10:00pm, his wife tried to make a telephonic contact with him but his pone was found switched off. His wife later received a text message telling her to pick Salman Haider's car from Korang Town, Islamabad.
AFP adds: Two Pakistani activists who went missing early this month have been returned and are safe, their families said Saturday, more than two weeks after their disappearance along with three others sparked protests and fears of a government crackdown.
Academic Salman Haider is "safe and fine", a family member told AFP, confirming comments from police. A second activist who was also a blogger was also declared safe by a member of his family, who asked AFP not to disclose his name.
