UN urged to implement Security Council resolutions on Kashmir

A spokesperson for Foreign Office said here on Saturday that freedom struggle in the Indian-held Kashmir cannot be suppressed through acts of brutalities and reiterated Pakistan's continued support to the right to self-determination of the people of the occupied region.
Speaking at a conference on Kashmir held under the aegis of Muttahida Talba Mahaz in connection with completion of 200 days of young Kashmiri leader Burhan Muzaffar Wani's martyrdom, FO spokesperson, Nafees Zakaria, said that Pakistan will continue to support the people of Kashmir in achieving their right to self-determination.
He said Indian forces have unleashed a reign of terror against the innocent citizens of Kashmir, adding the freedom struggle launched by Kashmiris could not be suppressed through brutalities and atrocities.
He said that people of Kashmir are rendering sacrifices on a daily basis and are looking towards international community to get justice.
He said India with a view to converting the Muslim majority into a minority is trying to change the demographic composition of Kashmir by granting domiciles to non-Kashmiris. He called upon the international community to take notice of the continued violations of human rights in the Indian-held Kashmir as it is a major concern for all.
Referring to the steps taken by the government to sensitise the international community on the situation in the Indian-held Kashmir, he said that the issue of Kashmir has been highlighted on all regional and international forums since 1947.
He said that Pakistan's ambassadors in important world capitals are continuously raising the issue of Kashmir and the ongoing atrocities against the defenceless Kashmiri people by the Indian forces.
Later, the conference adopted a resolution, urging the United Nations to implement various resolutions of its Security Council on Kashmir dispute so that the people of the occupied region could take decision on their own.
It also called upon the human rights and other international organisations to raise their voice against the Indian forces' crimes against humanity in the occupied region.
The moot also condemned the ongoing human rights violations and the use of pellet guns by Indian security forces on the Kashmir people, including women and children, and urged the international community to play its role in stopping the brutalities against Kashmiri people.
