Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Saturday said that the appointment of the Governor is the prerogative of the prime minister which will be accepted by the government of Sindh. The chief minister was speaking to reporters after offering condolences on the death of the brother of former Pakistan People's Party (PPP) parliamentarian Rana Hameer Singh in the village of Rana Jageer near Umerkot.
He said that the Sindh government has launched several development projects in short span which include water and sewerage lines, health centres and the provision of medicines. He said that steps were being taken over the prevailing unemployment and lack of opportunities in Sindh.
CM Murad said that steps were being taken to improve the local government system, and funds will soon be disbursed to municipal corporations across Sindh. He said that accounts of municipal wards have been set up, and there was constant communication between them. He said that the finance department has been directed to issue funds to the health department for the provision of dialysis machines in Umerkot, and the completion of other healthcare schemes. He also announced a grant to the Umerkot press club.
It may be mentioned that the position of the Governor of Sindh is vacant since Justice (retd) Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui passed away on January 11. The federal government has started due deliberations but a final decision is expected after the return of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from London.
