144 imposed in Punjab

In the wake of 'new-year night' Saurday, the provincial government has imposed Section 144 across the province to avoid any untoward incident. According to sources, the provincial government has taken this decision after receiving directions from the Ministry of Interior.
In collaboration with law enforcement agencies, the personnel of police will be taking strict action against one-wheelers, persons displaying arms and others violators of law. As per the decision, no one is allowed to gather at any recreational place. Meanwhile, the city traffic police have also deployed more than 5,000 cops to maintain a smooth traffic flow in the city.
