Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday said that China-Pakistan Economic Project (CPEC) project will change the fate of the future generations of Pakistan, adding that the federal government has failed to fulfil its promises with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding CPEC.
He was addressing a rally in district Swabi. On the occasion, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak, Minister for Health, Shahram Khan Tarakai, Minister for Education, Mohammad Atif Khan, PTI MNAs, MPAs, activists and others, were present. PTI chairman said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's reservations regarding CPEC have no links with China, adding that the federal government has denied the due share to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the project.
"China has always been a friend of Pakistan, and has always stood by us in difficult times," he said.
He said that the chief ministers of Sindh and Baluchistan should demand their due rights as injustice breeds resistance. "It is responsibility of the federal government to give right to smaller provinces," he said.
Imran Khan stressed CPEC is an excellent opportunity for Pakistan to develop its less-privileged areas, as it is not a road infrastructure but an economic zone and will also alleviate poverty and provide economic opportunities.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif cannot be trusted as he does not keep to his word, and treat CPEC as their personal deal and concealed information and agreements made about it, he added.
"If I was in the place of Nawaz Sharif then I would have thought more about the poverty-stricken area of Pakistan," he said.
He decried that the government of Nawaz Sharif has destroyed all institutions, and the people like Asif Ali Zardari are coming to save him but no one will justice to the people. He vowed to never give up on the battle against corruption as it is the quicksand which is swallowing us.
PTI chief also paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam and said he is revered due to his exceptional character and speaking up for justice in his extensive forty years struggle.
He also felicitated the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas stating that it is our responsibility to safeguard the rights of minorities.
