With a view to make the Punjab Blood Transfusion Authority (PBTA) vibrant and more effective, the organisational structure of the Authority is being strengthened and an effective system is being evolved for inspection of registration and licensing of blood banks in the province.
It was stated by Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Kh Salman Rafique while presiding over a meeting of Punjab Blood Transfusion Authority (PBTA) on Friday. Besides Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmed Shah, DG Health Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Pro Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Professor Amir Zaman, Secretary PBTA Dr Zafar Iqbal, Professor Arif Nadeem, representatives of Fatmeed Foundation and Pakistan Red Crescent Society and Additional Secretary Technical Dr Salman Shahid and others attended the meeting.
Secretary PBTA Dr Zafar Iqbal briefed the meeting during which matters related to the strengthening of organisational structure of the Authority, provision of human resource, setting up central laboratory, inspection, registration and licensing of blood banks were discussed in detail.
