It gives me great pleasure to felicitate and express my heartfelt feelings to His Majesty, the Emperor Akihito on his 83rdbirthday and also to the wonderful people of Japan who have nurtured with care the tradition of monarchy for thousands of years. This day is unique to the people of Japan as it is also their National Day and is cause for upliftment of spirit and renewing pledges to the country.
There is a natural love and goodwill between people of Pakistan and Japan, and they have stood by each other in testing times. Though separated by Geography, the people of the two countries share many values and are close in their mutual warmth, support and respect.
Pakistan Japan Business Forum which was formed in 2001 with active patronage of the Ambassador of Japan and the Consul General of Japan, has been actively working towards its vision:
"facilitate, encourage, promote business and friendly relationship between the industrial and business communities of Pakistan & Japan". PJBF engages in B2B Dialogue in conjunction with G2G dialogue every second year and takes SME delegations to Japan every year to meet with their counter parts as well as arranges B2B meetings for vising Japanese business persons. In the current calendar year 15 delegates from surgical, textile, IT and engineering sectors visited Tokyo, Osaka and Toyoma and held 120 meetings over 3 days.
PJBF also arranges transfer of Japanese management know-how through Japanese trainers in Pakistan as well special courses for Pakistanis in Japan. As we think of Japan, a multidimensional beautiful image of the land of the Rising Sun, conjures up - dolls, calendars, judo, origami, ikebana, humility, well laid gardens, Walkman and many technological advances.... It is all this and much more. To rise from the rubble of World War II and reach the pinnacles of economic power and glory with the speed and manner it has, shows the mettle and the intellect of its people. More glory awaits them. I pray for their Majesties long life and greater friendship between the people of the two countries.
