At least eighteen Pakistanis are reportedly adrift in Suez Canal of Egypt while affected families in Pakistan have demanded the government to take necessary steps. Reportedly, the eighteen member staff of cargo ship including Captain of the ship has not been paid salaries for past five months and their passports have also been seized.
Egyptian navy seized their passports over protest while eatables are depleting day by day. According to the family of Jameelur Rehman in Lyari, chief officer with the crew, they have been suffering for past five months. Meanwhile, Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria has revealed that all the arrangements have been made to bring 18 Pakistanis back home from Suez.
