Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Inter-College Girls Baseball and Handball got under way here at University Larama Campus on Thursday. Vice Chancellor Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Professor Dr Razia Sultana was the chief guest who formally inaugurated the two Championship of Baseball and Handball. Director Sports Miss Maria Samin, Coaches Salma Faiz, Miss Rohina Tabasum, Miss Farhad (Nowshera), Miss Suria (Pabbi District Nowshera), Miss Najma Qazi (Peshawar) were also present.
In the opening match of the Baseball, Government Girls College Nowshera defeated Girls College Bacha Khan by 11-8 in a thrilling match. Government Girls College Nowshera dominated the first innings of the two innings contests wherein it led the way at 7-4. It was the second innings in which Girls College Bacha batter played well but failed to win the battle by 11-8 score.
In the second match Frontier College for Women defeated Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University by 14-13 score in a closely contestant encounter. Both were locked at the end of the first innings at the score of 7-7 and it was the second innings play in which Frontier College for Women recorded victory by just one run.
