Directorate of Intelligence and investigation-Inland Revenue (IR) Islamabad has conducted successful raids on two soap manufacturers of Islamabad, allegedly involved in sales tax evasion. According to sources, Directorate of Intelligence and investigation-IR Islamabad conducted raid on a soap factory located in Industrial Area Islamabad on the charges of sales tax fraud.
A team headed by Assistant Director Mehdi Hasan thoroughly searched the business premises of said factory and impounded cheque books, computer and other sales related record. The raids were conducted on the intelligence report of suppression of sales of products. The preliminary investigation revealed that the unit is involved in sales tax evasion of million of rupees. According to the officials of intelligence office, criminal proceedings will be constituted against the owners of the business entities.
In another operation, Directorate of intelligence and investigation (IR) has conducted a raid on a soap manufacturer located in sector I-9/2 of Islamabad. The said leading soap manufacturer of Islamabad was allegedly involved in sales tax fraud. As per information, a team headed by Deputy Director Muhammad Junaid Murtaza raided the manufacturing premises of Islamabad soap chemical industries.
The team conducted thorough search of business premises and impounded servers, computers, cheque books and other sales related records. Islamabad Soap & Chemical Industry is involved in production of Wardha & Lily beauty soap and Malta washing soap. Initial scrutiny of impounded record reveals that they are involved in sales tax evasion amounting to millions of rupees. Directorate of Intelligence and investigation has initiated criminal proceedings against the owners of Islamabad-based soap manufacturer as they were maintaining 15 undeclared and benami bank accounts along with sales tax evasion.
