KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that the provincial government and federal government had reached near agreement on the construction of longstanding Cheshma Left Canal (CLC) and work on the project will start soon. He was addressing a public meeting at Tehsil Kulachi after inaugurating Gomal Zam Command Area Project in district D.I. Khan on Saturday.
Those present on the occasion were included Senior Minister, Sikandar Hayat Sherpao, Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Ikramullah Khan Gandapore, Provincial Minister for Sports, Mahmood Khan, MPAs, Jehandad Khan, Samiullah Khan Alizai, Ihtesham Javed Akbar, District Nazim, Azizullah Khan Alizai, District Nazim, Tank, Mustafa Kundi, large number of elected public representatives and government officials.
The chief minister said that the provincial government will provide an amount of Rs 40 billion, which is one third of the total cost for the project. He said that a state of-the-art industrial park will also be constructed on the western route at D.I. Khan. It will be a complete industrial city, which will not only provide unlimited opportunities of employments for the locals rather will also usher socio-economic revolution as it will accelerate progress in local industrial, agricultural and human resource sectors of the area. Talking about the achievements of the provincial government, the chief minister said that instead of establishing new educational institutes, they concentrated on the up-gradation of the standard of existing schools, colleges and universities and guaranteed the attendance of teachers.
Furthermore, for the abolition of the class-based education system, the provincial government introduced English as medium of instruction in public sector schools and now the children of poor persons on reaching colleges and university level will competes the students of English medium schools. He said that the day is not far away when the people will shift enrolment of their children from private to public sector schools.
About health sector reforms, the chief minister said that their government has increased the salaries of doctors by three-fold and had turned it attractive for highly qualified doctors. He said that earlier no doctor was ready to give duty at the salary of Rs 50000/- per month in far-flung and backward area. But, after the introduction of present package doctors are ready to work in each area of the province.
