A Sikh delegation from United States of America has visited Sikh religious shrines and holy places in walled city Peshawar on Friday. Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was honoured to welcome the delegation at Peshawar Museum warmly and gladly. The members of delegation were briefed about the renowned collection of art in the museum.
The delegation is consisting 40 members of US Sikh Community, visiting for pilgrimages in different cities of Pakistan. After praying at Panja Sahb Hassan Abdal, the delegation visited Peshawar museum and one of their religious shrines Gurdwara Jugan Shah. It is a historical shrine located in Mohalla (locality) Ganj of Peshawar city.
Talking to media personals, the Sikh delegation said that we are glad to see that many religious and architectural sites are reserved and maintained by different departments of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They further appreciated the Tourism Corporation KP's efforts by saying that Religious tourism has always been promoted and encouraged by TCKP as it is the most appealing act to people of all ages and nationalities who come from around the world.
General Manager TIC's Mr Ali Syed said that thousands of Sikh Pilgrims come every year from all over the world and Government of Pakistan helps them in every regard and treat them with respect and honour. The shrines which are sacred places for the Sikh Community are also maintained by the provincial government.
A 40 members' delegation comprised of well-known Sikh participants including Harjap Singh, General Singh, Madan Jeet Autar, Dil Jeet Singh, Amarik, Shangara Singh, Parmand Kaur, Autar Kaur, Gurdyal, Satpal, Jasber, Surrendar, Parmjeed, Manjeet, Hardeep, Kashmir Kaur and others. Pakistan is not only rich in Islamic heritage but also had hosted other religions' heritage. Spiritual tourism has been active in this region for Islamic religion along with Sikhism, Buddhism and Hinduism which have their emotional and deep rooted connection with this Land regarding their faith.
