The first Long Beach ITF Seniors World Ranking Tournament is in full swing here at the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association tennis courts on Thursday. In 60 plus singles Asad Niaz beat Gul Hameed Khan by 6-2, 4-0 and won the title. Gul Hameed Khan could not complete the 2nd set and retired hurt.
In 35 plus doubles first semi final, Pakistan Air Force Irfan Ullah and Shahzad Khan upset top seeds Israr Gul and Shehryar Salamat by 6-4, 6-4 and qualify for the final. In 2nd semi final Asher Ali Khan and Fayyaz Khan beat spirited confident pair Naeem Siddique (SID) and M. Arif by 6-4, 6-4 and qualify for the final. In 45 plus age group doubles first semi final KPK police Israr Gul and Pakistan Air Force Irfanullah Khan beat Fayyaz Khan and M. Arif by 6-3, 6-4 and qualify for the final.
In 50 plus age group doubles first semi final Asad Niaz and Imran Siddique beat Waqar Nisar and M. Saeed Ikramullah by 6-1, 6-0 while in 2nd semi final Rashid Malik and Rai Zahid got walk over against Iftikhar Rao and Pervaiz Bajwa. In 65 plus age group round robin matchers Shahid Mehmood and Naveed Najam beat Khalid Ikram and Khurram Khawaja by 6-2, 6-2. In 2nd match Chaudhry Muhstaq Ahmed and Laiq Pirzada beat Pervaiz Bajwa and Imtiaz Hussain Malik by 6-3, 6-4.
