ISLAMABAD: Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Khan Ghouri on Wednesday informed the Senate that Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) has earned Rs.1 billion profit during the current year owing to the efforts of its officials.
Replying to a supplementary question during Question Hour, he said that PNSC had paid Rs.3.5 tax to the government during the past three years.
The minister said that PNSC had collected Rs.52458.861 million revenues against total expenditure of Rs.40278.762 million during the last five years.
Giving the break up, he said that PNSC earned Rs.9779.107 million revenue in 2010-11, Rs.8,778.837 million in 2009-10, Rs.12,299.766 million in 2008-09, Rs.11,568.501 million in 2007-08 and Rs.10,032.650 million in 2006-07.
Similarly, he said that PNSC expenditure stood at Rs.8,378.667 million in 2010-11, Rs.7,329.306 in 2009-10, Rs.9,304.855 million in 2007-08 and Rs.7,184.594 million in 2006-07.
To another supplementary question, he said expenses increased due to commissioning of four new ships by PNSC in its fleet.
