ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Farooq H Naek on Friday directed Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Shah to lay reports of Council of Islamic Ideology (IIC) since 1997 onward before the next session of House.
The Chairman gave ruling during Question Hour when Prof Khursheed drew his attention towards violation of the constitution by not laying CII's reports before the House.
Earlier, Syed Khursheed Shah said that CII since its inception has released 80 reports and 16 annual reports including Final Report 1996 had been laid before the parliament along with subject reports on different topics prepared by the Council till 1996.
He said 12 annual reports (from 1997 to 2009) were yet to be laid before the parliament. The minister said that the law ministry in 2006 had recommended that the reports of CII should be placed in libraries of parliament.
He said in 2010, they also sought law ministry's recommendations and were informed that reports should be laid before both the Houses. He said that reports were being finalized and would be laid before the Hosues.
