KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian interest rates are still "accommodative" for the southeast Asian economy and the central bank needs to decide whether any further easing is needed, its governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz said on Friday.
The central bank meets next week for its first monetary policy meeting of the year.
Zeti also said she believed inflation had peaked as commodity prices had started moderating.
She told reporters at a fixed income seminar in the Malaysian capital that inflation remained at "reasonably elevated levels so we have to be mindful."
