LAHORE: Opposition members of the Punjab Assembly have felicitated Prime Minister Syed Yusaf Raza Gilani on passage of pro-democracy resolution by the National Assembly. They said by passaing the resolution, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and its allied parties had thwarted designs of rejected elements against democracy and now nobody could dare to move a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister.
Lawmakers including Raja Riaz Ahmed, Chaudhry Zaheerud Din, Shaukat Mehmud Basra, Mohsin Leghari, Sajida Mir, Faiza Malik and Amna Ulfat, while talking to APP, said the way the PPP-led coalition partners reposed full confidence in the leadership of Yusaf Raza Gilani was unprecedented.
They said the government had become more stronger and would complete five-year term. Nobody should have any misconception and accept the reality that democratic system faced no threat.
They lambasted the PML-N leadership for boycotting the resolution and said it opted for political point scoring. They opined that PML-N leaders should abandon the bids to derail the democratic system and instead come forward with positive proposals to stengthen it for the progress and prosperity of the country.
